Customer Rating: Summary: Delta 3/4 h.p. drill press Comment: I am well pleased with the Delta 3/4 h.p. drill press, the set up was very easy. The power this drill has is more than enough for any project I have under taken so far. Drill runs quiet at all speeds.
Customer Rating: Summary: Solid drill press with some well designed features Comment: I really like this drill press for the money - the 3/4 horse motor is smooth, powerful and quiet. Depth stop has well done quick adjust/fine adjust mechanism, and there is a quill lock. Drill depth capability is well beyond average, controlled by beefy 3 handle arm with comfortable knobs. Plunge motion is smooth and precise, minimal runout. Easy and fast quick tension release on motor to change speeds. No issue with cover rattle on mine (make sure you have neoprene bushings at mounting locations between head and pulley housing, and adjust cover latch clip so its fits tight). With 16 speeds, 3/4 horses and 5/8" chuck, its all you need for a small shop.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice bang for the buck Comment: I researched a lot of machines before buying the Delta. The features available on this DP, such as quill lock, threaded stop block and depth of travel could only be found on more expensive units. Mine runs true and quiet right out of the box, no need for duct tape...yet. Seems powerful enough for my woodworking needs. Plan on some assistance when attaching the head, she's a heavy bugger - but that's good, right?
Customer Rating: Summary: Good drill press. Belt cover is noisy. Comment: Tool worked great and takes some muscle to put together. Drill head is very heavy unit. Worked great for me right out of the box with no issues other than the belt cover vibrates and makes quite a bit of noise. I will find a way to fix it some time but doesn't affect operation.
Customer Rating: Summary: Satisfied with Delta Drill Press Comment: Delta Drill Press is all I expected. Performs well. Would have liked a retainer clip to hold chuck-tightner wrench to keep from misplacing it. Othewise, okay.

If your projects require you to drill with big bits or if you find yourself attempting to drill with precision under questionable circumstances, this heavy-duty 16-1/2-inch drill press from Delta will help you get out of your, um, hole. Running off a 3/4-horsepower motor that can be wired for either 115 or 230 volts, it gives you an impressive deep plunge length of 4-7/8 inches and holds up to 5/8-inch-diameter bits. Solid cast-iron construction and a 3-1/8-inch column give it the industrial feel and durability we look for in this type of tool. You'll enjoy the rotating work base--which bevels, of course, 45 degrees each way for drilling angles--as well as the depth stop that can be set quickly and easily with microadjustments and a locking mechanism, great for repetitive drilling. While other models sometimes place hard-to-read speed and belt charts under the top cap, Delta uses a wide, clearly legible chart to explain how to configure the belts for each of 16 speeds (215 to 2,720 rpm). And, thanks to the smooth, cool-running induction motor inside, you're not likely to find yourself shopping for a drill press again for an extremely long time. --Justin Paul
